Default Semroc officially restarts

According to his Facebook post, Boadway (erockets, Semroc) says, "Kitting our first kit tomorrow at Semroc. Starting around 11am, stop by if you want to help or celebrate with us. The Goblin is the first kit."

Thumbs up Semroc Redux

Hey folks, it's no longer just a dream or a hope or a plan, it is a reality: Semroc IS back in the kit manufacturing business. I got swept up in the excitement of the moment and hit eRockets Friday night to buy one of the first "new production" Goblin kits. (Picked up a few Estes goodies, while I was there - Alien Invader, Photon Disruptor, and an Interceptor.)

I had already ordered from them several times before, so I already knew eRockets operates by the Semroc "shipped before you ordered it" system. I figured the order would ship on Monday. Well, it shipped Saturday morning and showed up on my doorstep Monday afternoon. As a bonus, despite my selecting an economy shipping option, they had upgraded it to 2-Day Priority. Nice.

Last night, I got home from work, opened the box, and beheld one of the first newly manufactured Semroc kits to appear in almost 2 years. I've never been crazy about the Goblin, but darn it right now it's one of the most beautiful rockets of all time! Mine is #88 of the production run.

There's just something so psychologically......reassuring to know that I can still go out and buy, brand new, many of the same model rocket kits I brought home from "The Model Shop" (about 3 blocks from our house) when I was 11. Maybe it just reassures me that I'm not *that* old yet.

I'm smiling as I type this. Here's to much more Good Stuff coming from Rip Rap Road in the fair city of Dayton, Ohio!

HUZZAH!

* * *

I looked around the parts area on Semroc Mk. II. The body tube menu led to some balsa parts.

It should probably be pointed out the nose cone in that kit is a 3:1 ogive not a 4:1 parabola like in an actual Estes Goblin.

Ya, looking at the cone in the package it's not even close! Someone needs to tell Randy so he stops production and gets the proper cone put in the kit. I feel sorry for all those early purchasers that got something that wasn't as advertised.

The Goblin was in one of my last orders from Knightsdale.

It pleases me greatly that Semroc is active again; I just need to get warmed up to it. For some reason (I have a real good idea as to why), I don't have that same warm, fuzzy feeling. I'll support them—have no doubt about it. They make what I like. I just don't have that whatever it was, anymore. I don't know how to describe it without sounding like some kind of sap. Not even sure that I could describe it.

At any rate, I'm delighted, and will be supporting the Rip Rap Road gang as they bring Semroc back. There are a few kits I'd still like to acquire and fly. A few parts and pieces that will be needed.
