NASA Pegasus
I was just looking here:
1985 Estes Catalog I'm really taken with the NASA Pegasus model; however, I can't find plans for this one. JimZ lists a part number 0806 Pegasus, but not this no. 1376 NASA Pegasus. I can probably get pretty close from the picture, but I'd sure like to see their fin patterns and alignment guide. EDIT: I also really like the Scorpius here. Same situation though. I admit I'm wondering about the stability of Scorpius... |

Yeah, the Estes Scorpius (#1375) has caught my eye several times now.

Looking over the Scorpius instruction sheet, I couldn't help but notice the photo of the finished model for decal placement has the front supports at the wrong end of the forward tubes when compared to all the construction drawings. Same with the catalog picture. I wonder which would be considered "correct"?

By the way, I've kicked around the "upscale" idea for the Scorpius for about six months now...

There's a picture of one of these out there somewhere. It's on my screen saver at work. (BTW, I mean the Scorpius is cool, not work. Work gives me hairballs.)

The NASA Pegasus makes a nice upscale to BT-70 size but I found out that if you do that, you'll either need a 24mm cluster or Aerotech motors. I'm hoping to try mine on an E18-4 or an F24-4 this weekend. Review on EMRR can be found here |

(Sorry, I want to abbreviate your username to "Solo," for some unidentifiable reason. --Probably because it's shorter). If you didn't know about it already, here's a link that you'll absolutely *need* for your Estes cloning purposes : Estes Body Tube and Nose Cone Lists That's how I tracked down the information on the body tubes. You can get your BT-20J, BT-50FE, and BT-55C (14" long) from SEMROC. Look under "Classic Body Tubes" (Scroll down below the Centuri ST- and LT- tubes). You can also get a balsa equivalent for the nose cone from Semroc: BNC-55AO and Estes-sized centering rings, as well. If you haven't already, go to www.semroc.com and just poke around a while. You *may* like what you find. BTW, cool avatar. Cheers,
