Thumbs up Estes Saturn V #2001

Just won this baby on eBay. Of course I'll build. I've seen a 24mm 3 engine cluster kit that's available here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Estes-Saturn-V-...1QQcmdZViewItem , and was wondering if anyone's had any experience with it. I've always wanted one of these, but the 100' maximum altitude isn't really too exciting. This is going ahead of all the other projects I have on the burner now. If someone could do a rocksim for me, I'd like to know how 3 Estes D12's would stack up against a single Aerotech E15, E30 or F21 - and what would be the optimum delay charges. Of course I will examine the construction details and beef up as needed. This one may very well get a rail.

Oh, wow - I saw this and thought it was the same thing, but it has a 29mm mount instead of a three 24mm cluster: http://cgi.ebay.com/Estes-Saturn-V-...1QQcmdZViewItem WARNING! This one has sound, too.

My work computer has no speakers. (It's a Joe Rockhead Millenium 2500 B.C. model.)

You do know that this is just an upgrade kit for a #2001 Saturn V kit, and does not include a #2001 kit, correct?

Yeah, I already won the #2001 Saturn V kit. Should see it sometime late this week. I'm just anticipating the mods I'd like to make to it and saw these upgrade kits when I was first searching for it. Actually, I'm pretty handy with my tools and could probably make my own mount. I'd prefer light ply for the centering rings. I understand that the fins on this one are balsa from checking the back catalogs on Ninfinger.org. I may be able to slot the tube and make my own fins with root extensions. This would beef up the engine bell shrouds too.

(And yes, Bill, I said tools.... Heh, Heh. )

Ok, I've been doing some Googling and have found that quite a few people have installed a 29mm mount in this thing. I've also found that quite a few have just built it stock or with a longer mount and used the Aerotech E & F 24mm engines. I haven't found any info on a three 24mm cluster, though. Anyone with any prior experience with any of these please chime in! I'd like to know what worked or what didn't for you.

Anyone have any thoughts on a scale-like 5x18mm cluster? That would look awsome! Whatever I decide, I'm going to have to know where the normal CG is located so I can add appropriate nose weight. Does anyone have that Information, please?
