They really are not that close. The Centuri Recruiter is based on the ST-8/ST-13 with all balsa parts. The Estes Recruiter was released almost 10 years after the Centuri version and was BT-55/BT-60 based with one blow molded plastic nose cone-transition-nozzle part to replace the balsa parts. The same plastic part (72701) was used a few years later on the Beta Launch Vehicle (SparePartsEV?).

The fins, decals, etc. are also different. Only the name and general shape was recycled. The Centuri Thunderhawk was redone as the Estes Thunderhawk. The more you look at the two, the more different they are as well.

Yes, the Estes Recruiter and Beta Launch Vehicle kits came with the same one-piece blow molded NC, transition, and nozzle stack that have to be separated to assemble the model. The nozzle isn't used on the Beta, so after I've assembled the Beta, I'll still have the hardest part to obtain for the Recruiter--the nozzle!

Sometimes, I'm just so darned resourceful that I make myself giddy!

What was that, Mary?

Very funny. She said I'm "giddy" ALL other times, too.

Must be the meds.

the Estes version is thier 'update' of the original Centuri version .

Semrocs is based on the Centuri version, a bit smaller overall ( I have an original builtup )

Would love to have one of the Estes cones myself - would be a good one to add to limited volume release such as Mildin Oldies ... ( you listening ? )

Hmmmm. Something like that.
Anyway, I contacted Moldin' Oldies and asked if they would like to borrow the cone/transition/nozzle stack from the Beta Launch Vehicle kit.

Did you ever get it from other Scott, I have one also . I wanted the fin set from the beta launch vehicle. So I have the whole blow molded goodness uncut if memory serves. I will even give it to you for the same price. I think we need to start a new thread called yard sale, stuff toy won't use that you just want to go to a loving home.
