![]() This built Pershing model sold earlier today on eBay for $300+. Problem is, the seller listed it as an Estes Pershing, but I’m pretty positive it is NOT the Estes version.
I sent the seller a message a few days ago to let them know they might be inviting some issues from the eventual winner by calling this an Estes Pershing, because once the winner receives the item they are going to find they won a smaller Pershing by another maker. The seller never did update their listing. Looks to be maybe a 3” kit…maybe. But if the winner is expecting an Estes MaxiBrute Pershing, they are going to be disappointed. It looks to be a nicely built model, but I do not know whose kit it is. Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2663925688...=p2047675.l2557 Earl

![]() I agree Earl. If you look closely at the last picture, you can see the nose cone shoulder is clearly balsa, not plastic like the original.
Intentional misrepresentation or honest mistake? |

![]() The only other widely-distributed Pershing 1A kit I'm aware of is the TLP kit. That used a balsa cone and paper shrouding to form the correct shape.
YEARS ago, Gordon Agnello (Sandman) offered a detailed Pershing kit as well, if i recall correctly. That used a turned Balsa Cone. Think was 3" diam. Some FOOL paid $334.99 for that thing on ebay. That's MAYBE a valid price for a pristine shrink-wrapped/unopened FLAWLESS Estes Maxi-Brute kit. Not this thing...

I'm thinking it was an honest mistake, as I think they picked these up at an estate sale. Probably did not know a great deal about rocketry or maybe 'just' enough to kinda know what they might be. Or, possibly had some help from someone who knew a little bit and they went by some old online catalogs to help ID the rockets. In any event, I did give them a heads up that at least the ID on this one was more than likely wrong, but they did not update the listing. So......I am suspecting that once the winner of this $300+ auction receives this rocket in the mail, that person is gonna be a bit angered by what they find. I think this is about a 3" diameter kit, but I just do not know who the maker of the kit is. Earl

Gordie made nice kits. No matter what, this guy overpaid, but getting a nicely built Roachworks kit over an Estes kit isn't a step down.

![]() The Roachworks is BT80 based (2.6")
I also have TLP version that is 3.75" |

![]() The separation point of the TLP kit was at the base of the small cone at the tip of the nose.
If that is a 1/4" lug then I'm leaning towards the Roachworks kit. kj |

I kept eyeballing the photo showing the end of the BT and the launch lug. I thought it looked like a 2.6" BT based on how big the lug looked, but wasn't confident enough to bring it up when I first saw the thread. I didn't have time to print it to measure and compare what I think is a 1/4" lug to the BT diameter. The stuffer tube seems pretty big in comparison as well, but I don't know what size tube it is. The image won't show inline, but here it is: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/JHEA...obJ/s-l1600.jpg
