used Krylon white primer and misted a quick coat on.
Waited 5 mins and misted another coat on.

Then in 15mins I made sure the rocket looked white.

Then as the yellow glue fillets had an air bubble hole or two on each side, I took Vinyl Spacking compound and filleted the fins again.

When that was all dry sand lightly with 400 grit sandpaper, all surfaces.

I then gave it a cover coat of Krylon Flat White over the entire surface. This will be the white parts of the rocket and the undercoat for the next color that requires a white undercoat.

Use the roll up the rear to position it someplace nice to dry overnight.

Ok, the paint has dried

And guess what, I forgot to glue the launch lugs on

So I used an xacto knife and scraped off the paint where the lugs needed to go and glued them on with medium CA.

Get this part right, this is serious stuff

Ok, Here we painted Bertha in a nice golden glow of yellow fluorescent, kind of gives her a tan.

We also got some pin stripe and she now has a fine trim

Here we put one of Bertha's tan legs into some silken mist.

Well, I glued the motor mount in Bertha.

Here is a shot that also shows the trim stop and start points.

I was really upset that I discovered that I forgot to paint the estes blue tube of the motor mount before I glued it in. It looked real funny for such a rocket to have that blue tube sticking out the bottom.

So I wraped some black tape around it to make it look better from the side.

I put plenty of wood glue on the mount so if RSOs want to try pulling or pushing on it, she will hold up to their testing.

In this part,

we tie the kevlar cord and the elastic band from Jo-Anne's fabrics together with just an overhand knot. We tied the other end of the elastic band to the nose cone clip etc.

Bertha needs a good large parachute for the Parachute duration, and one that could be seen well in the sky and on the ground

Ed Hartle of Hartle Engineering, Inc. is sponsoring Betha's 32 inch chute you can see in this photo. The Yellow is so bright you can see it "white outs" the flash on my camera

Ed ships them in a very nice kit, you can see the parts spread out here. Also you can see the orange 32 inch chute Ed is sponsoring in my EnerJet 2250 build as well.

I will get this chute kit put together as soon as I come back from AirFest this holiday weekend.
