I make references like that to my Mom all the time. She hates it. I always tell people that I was one of the lucky ones. All they ever did was beat the hell out of me.

I'm glad I don't have and don't plan to have children....I can remain child enough for our family and continue to spend on MY toys and hobbies and not have to think about items such as tuition !

Our nun was called Lead Finger. She had a habit (there's a joke there) of pounding her fingers into your chest while she was chewing you out.......index finger, middle finger and thumb pulled together and pounding into your chest.....just pounding.....****, I think I'm going to have nightmares....

They had NO idea what to do with me, but I tested well and my parents ponied up the bucks, so they didn't ship me out like they did some of the other "troublemakers". In the seventh and eighth grades, I got marched up to the nun house every day at lunch so I could be given my "medicine". (One of the ADD/HDD drugs.) They made me feel like I was in a fog, so I started palming them and tossing them into the bushes on my way to the "playground" (asphalt parking lot). We had a reunion a few years ago and I was surprised to find out how many of the kids remembered that I did this every day. (Apparently I was the talk of many dinner tables.) When I told them that I palmed them and tossed them into the bushes, the other class clown said "Wow, you could have made a fortune selling them to XXXXXXXXXXX!" (He was the class stoner. Name changed just in case he didn't smoke his reading ability away.)

Oddly, or maybe not, our playground was also the asphalt parking lot, or rather the two lots in front of and behind the church and school. And the nun's house was also located there as well. Because I tended to put off doing some of my school work, I spent some time in the nun's house working on long-overdue book reports. I think it was during the summer after 7th grade, though I could be *way* off on exactly when that happened. My memory sucks anyway, and that was more than 35 years ago.

Hopefully, come mid October I will be able to 'put the pedal to the metal' in my 'arms race'! Slated to close on a house I am selling on 10/1 and should see a nice profit

As long as the buyers inspection doesn't come back with a list of 100+ repairs to be made!
