Default Gordon Lightfoot

Gordon Lightfoot.
I have been channeling his song " The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald"
As a musician, this song was a time killer for me to get through my gig.
I changed some the words to see(hear) if the people were listining.
The line was " The legon lives on from the Chippewa on down of of the big lake they call
"Winnipasakee" pronounced "Winn na pa saki".

I got to be at a show in 2002 in Concord, NH.
When he sang his song, TWOTEF, he forgot the his line and stopped the show.
The crowed egged him on and someone said " We love you Gorden"
Gorden regained his composer and resumed the song.
I was fortune enough to visit the chapel he sings about where they ring the bell
"Twenty nine times for each men on the Edmund Fitzgerald"
The chapel was moved from it's original location to across the street, why IDN.
It was an honor to be there. At the time, there was a wedding going on and I felt I was being intrusive.
My wife did not know of this instance and was confused of my awe.
Still, I got to be with a part of history which satisfied my soul.
Gorden was in town just a few weeks ago and brought back to me these memories.

I think one of the best versions of this song was done by Brian Burns. He has a haunting voice which adds something to the story telling. The way he ends the song is what really sets it apart. His version is over 8 minutes which is why you never heard on it regular radio. Years ago they use to play it on XM radio on their Prime Country channel, but after they shut down that channel I never heard it again.

It is posted on youtube and you can hear it at https://youtu.be/dC18ej6gIcE

Gordon Lightfoot's Edmund Fitzgerald is a great song, albeit very spooky if you listen to the lyrics.
The wreck remains largely untouched due to being in Canadian waters. If it was here in Michigan waters, it most likely would have been fully explored if not plundered long ago.

It's far too deep for scuba. I think that's the real reason it hasn't been "plundered." She lies 530 feet down. Yes, divers with the right training and equipment (tri-mix or hard-hat equipment) could go that deep, but the average knucklehead cannot. Thank goodness. Rumor has it that some crew remains are visible inside (the site has been visited by submersibles).

If you enjoy Gordon's music, I *highly* recommend the following documentary:

The bell was brought up sometime ago and brought to the merritime sailors museum.
I 've seen that too. It's under a plastic shelter.
It brought me shivers to see it.

“The Vixen” and I both love Gordon Lightfoot. He’s the only musician I’ve seen in concert (3) times: 1978, 1994, and (IIRC) 2015.

The only music act/group I have seen multiple times is Scorpions, but would see Motley Crue, Judas Priest, or Metallica a second time. Ozzy/Black Sabbath are too old now. Would see Van Halen a second time, but only with DLR, NO Van Hagar.

Rick Beato has a video where he breaks down "If you could read my mind". There are so many moving parts in such a "simple" song. If you have an ear for music, its worth watching. He does get a bit deep in some of the terminology, but you can still get a better understanding of how the song comes together without needing to understand the all the terms. About 20 minutes long.
