![]() Well a quick psa about paint. I bought a can of store brand Ace Hardware primer figuring I’d save a couple bucks, it’s just primer. Well here is what my sin netted me. Thin runny sputtering crap. Lesson learned and guess what, Rustoleum X2 primer from Walmart was cheaper than this crap. It feels pretty smooth after a light sanding, tomorrow I will put down a good coat of good primer. Than I gotta wait for some less humid weather to start on the glossy stuff.

![]() A good sanding and it’s ready for paint. I’m going to lay down gloss white and let it dry for a week...

![]() The primer looks nice. Are you shooting gloss white over gray primer?

Well... reading your mind I should probably go get some white primer and hit it with that first. I risk laying the gloss on too thick trying to cover this gray and once it runs anywhere I will have to wait a week and sand it smooth. White primer and than I can get the gloss on in only 2 or 3 light coats.

![]() Sounds like a good plan. Personally, I use white primer under EVERYTHING except black and Spazz Chrome.

![]() I’ve seen it said here before, “time to ruin it with paint”. That bad primer layer left lots of high spots that really were stubborn about being sanded out. I did what I could with it, had a spiral seem where I cut out the scoop start to separate… frustration instead of fun. I finally threw in the towel and hit it with white primer and two coats of gloss white. Not my best work, looks good from five feet I guess. I will take some better pictures when it’s finished.

![]() Just pealed the masking for the red. Came out much cleaner than I was anticipating, getting excited about this build again. Couple of small overspray areas that I hit with white already. Next weekend it’s decals and future shine.

![]() Nice work. I regularly paint white over gray primer, works just fine (though I painted my Snarky a light gray). Agree with jeffy, the red scoop color looks great - I did that on mine, it is tricky! Think it'll fly yet this year? It'll fly nicely on a C11-3 if you have a small field.

![]() Thanks guys, it was really tough to mask that scoop. I am going to make an effort to fly it and I have a C11-3 that sounds like a good plan for the first flight. I actually haven’t flown the last 8-10 rockets I’ve built, it’s time.
