That kit would have been an interesting scale build if done in the old style paper tube, balsa, paper shroud, cardboard centering ring style. I don't care for Bezos's paint scheme, though.

I wish Bezos/B.O. would spend less time on his "almost an astronaut" ventures and spend more time and money getting their big fart engines ready for the Vulcan booster.

That isn't a stand. It's clear fins for stabilization. The NS is a short stubby rocket with tiny fins that aren't enough to stabilize it without thrust vectoring. Same goes for the Estes variety.

Edit: Woops! I didn't notice that big hunk of round plastic off to the side. Sorry!
I don't know if the kit will have it or not.

Even the main stream newspapers are making a joke of it:

I wouldn't be surprised if some wit, just for giggles, bought one and converted it to that use. :-)

I agree--I could see that price being appropriate if the booster was capable of making rocket-braked landings (the capsule could land separately under three of their 9" parachutes), perhaps using the Estes altimeter, or a keychain laser-type LIDAR, to ignite the retrorocket(s)--maybe two 13 mm motors--at the correct instant. (Back in the 1960s or 1970s, someone built a scale Surveyor [see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surveyor_program ] Moon lander model that used three timer-ignited 18 mm model rocket motors to brake its descent and landing, after it was dropped from some height. It made five or six successful flights, but crashed when one of the three motors failed to ignite, causing it to tumble [this actually happened with Surveyor 2 https://www.drewexmachina.com/2017/...-go-as-planned/ , whose Sun-orbiting Centaur final stage was captured as a temporary moon of the Earth between late last year and earlier this year].)

Ignoring the jokes I expect this model to be a good seller for Estes.
Folks/kids who wouldn't touch a hobby knife will probably buy up quite a few of these models.

I expect an even larger volume of sales when the Falcon 9 model comes out next year.

I just preordered a couple of these.

Are they overpriced? Yes, probably so.

But the comments at launches where it is brought out to the pad - Priceless.

"Limit 5 Per Order" is a little optimistic, isn't it?

For those that don't want to spend the money and do some building yourselves, there is always 3d printing to the rescue. Print up the cone trail and various greebles, then glue to a cardboard tube. Easy and cheap. Oh and you can size it up to a 3 or 4 inch body tube.

I say NO to RTF plastic supposed "rockets" that I describe with FAR more "accurate" adjectives away from this site.
Using those accurate adjectives here would at best get me some sort of "penalty", which I don't want.
