It's a very scarce item. I used to track and tabulate eBay sales of a lot of rocket kits from a variety of manufacturers, and stopped doing that after turning years of data over to Gerry Fortin. Over the years, I recorded just one sale of a Big Ben..........on 2008May17, for just $22.16. |

The Enforcer fin can is interesting.

The fin can and nose cone were the better parts of the kit. The body tube - thin and very weak. https://modelrocketbuilding.blogspo...rt-1-parts.html

Ha!
I noticed I commented on your Blog: “Nice build, My Endforcer body tube was destroyed by the ejection charge on the first fligt, right above the mount, the tube burned and only the Mylar was holding the model together. MRC replaced the wrap and I used an Estes BT50 to replace the tube. Wish I had replaced it first like you did!” |

It is scare. I personally have never seen one come up for sale. I think I have all other MRC kits, especially the Concept II kits which ARE nice, but I don't have the Big Ben. Earl

I think the Enforcer, Rebel, and Big Ben all use the same fin can. (Ok now, see: that ebay listing is beginning to look preeeettty sweet now, huh?) Earl

I can see the Enforcer and Rebel being the same, but the Big Ben looks a lot different.

The kits are the same diameter and if you zoom in on the Big Ben image in the scanned catalog, the fins are similar. The Big Ben image, in respect to the fins, is not as 'big' since the rocket is so much longer than the other kits, making it a bit more difficult to tell. I'm not 100% certain but believe them to be the same. Earl

It looks like the leading edge is straight on Big Ben versus angled down on the other two.

Yes, the way that illustrations looks, it does appear that way.... I didn't know it, but the plans for that ol' Big Ben are right here on YORF. Link: https://www.oldrocketplans.com/mrc/...20Big%20Ben.pdf A quick snippet of the specific portion of the instructions seems to indicate the same plastic fin unit as the others, though the perspective of the attached graphic still makes it a bit difficult to compare directly. However, I'd be doubtful that MRC developed two different but very similar looking plastic fin cans for this line. I do have an open Enforcer kit and all the aspects of the fin can look the same (e.g., thicker root edges of the fins tapering down to a sharp edge at the outer edge, as can be seen in the attached graphic). Earl
