That's good to know. I was just about to scratch build the fins, but their laser cut set will save me a lot of time. Thanks!

I won't bid on it if you are bidding on it, otherwise it's mine!

I am looking to build this rocket buy getting this kit or cloning it which can be done with a lot of work.

So did you pay $305 for it?

It shows SOLD on the auction block. Just doesn't show who bought it.

No.

My bid was just shy of that figure.

It was not me.

Was it someone from this web site?

Wow, I think I paid about $6 for mine in 1977 from Bill's Hobby Shop in Menomonee Falls when he was closing that one out. Bought the K-21 Titan II at the same time.

I used to be a Titan II crew member

Good luck with that balsa capsule Apollo CM/LES build. For practice, I'd advise you build the Estes/SEMROC 1/70 Apollo Little Joe - II first to give yourself an idea of what you're facing (you'll learn about the fin buildup process that the Saturn 1-B uses too).

Is is my totally scratch built Saturn 1B before Semroc and Kosrox.

I used a BT60 as the core tube with just a little build up for the fuel tanks. Got all the tubes from totally tubular at the time.

I used 3/16" cardboard with foam in the middle for the all the centering rings. It was setup for 24mm motors. Even did a couple of flights with it.

I also use the Estes K29 instructions from Jimz rocket plans site. I didn't use the inside stiffer tube system that Estes did, I went with more of a 1/100 scale over all layout of the model.

I did go with the original Estes built up 3D fins. I later added a Apogee Apollo nosecone set when it came out.

I made my own wraps best I could at the time, but with no other detail. The decals were from Tango Papa.

The SA207 doesn't match the paint job either, Lol.

Ended up selling it on Ebay several years ago.

I will be interested to see what Randy does when he is back on his feet and back at eRockets. Randy discontinued the Semroc 1:70 Saturn 1b when he found out Estes wss going to release a Saturn 1b. But it turns out the Estes version is 1:100. I don't think they have any intention of re-releasing a 1:70 version any time soon.

Apogee does make a magnificent 1:70 model but it is over twice the price of what Semroc's was. So I think there is still a market for Semroc's version. But we will see.
