I mentioned it in the thread about the new Estes Saturn kits (in Current Kit Talk). Here is the only info I have so far.
#7306 - Xtreme - suggested retail $14.99 Requires Engines: 1/2A6-2, A8-3, A8-5, B4-4, B6-6, C6-5, C6-7 Should be available in November

Looks like a lengthened Hi-Flier with a Wildfire-esque nose cone. Given that the HF had stability issues with the C motor, I'm guessing that is the reason for the stretching.

I was today years old when I learned of the existence of this motor. Has it always existed? Shortly I shall resume not knowing about it. |

It pops in and out of availability. Good motor for an Estes Wizard at B6-4 Field now that it has shrunk by 1/3.

Good test motor for min-diameter (BT-20, 18mm) rockets such as the Estes Wizard.
Estes used to offer the 1/2A6-4 which is even better in small, minimum diameter rockets like the Estes Wizard. Don't use it in anything larger than BT-50 sized rockets; anything larger diameter that is bigger than an Estes Goony or Centuri Lil' Ivan will most likely land before recovery system deployment. While I find such flights entertaining, it will most likely result in a MANGLED/MUTILATED rocket.

The Estes website now shows the Xtreme as available directly from them. I would expect most local hobby shops and online shops will have it in a couple of weeks.

Well, the 1/2A6-2 was in the 1968 Estes Catalog . Shortly before then, engines were in English measurements, and it was the 1/2A.8-2. Someone else can lookup when the 1/2A.8-2 first came out. From: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/no...a/68estp48.html

Your field shrank, too? Mine used to be wide open for about ten acres but the County stopped mowing the surrounding areas a few years ago. Now it's three open acres surrounded by tall weeds and saplings. And yes, I used up a cache of 1/2A6-2's quite enjoyably on this field.

I find this model appealing as well, looks like a fine small field flyer. However, I don't understand why Estes quit producing the 1/2A6-4. It's a fine motor for small, light rockets (aka Streak) as well as a good engine for keeping multi staged flights within the field. I guess they just want us to use the 1/2A3-4 with an adapter.
