I built an Invader when it came out in the 60s. It boosted nicely and glided back doing nice lazy circles of the launch field. A friend built one at the same time. His had no dihedral, and glided back inverted.

As an adult, I built another using my original plans and templates. Power Prang! Apparently I lost my childhood gift of building great flying gliders.

That was my suspicion...

A C5-3 may rip that thing apart.
About the only worse choices would be a vintage REAL B14 or an Aerotech D24.

Trying a 1/2A6-2 would probably be best or a 1/2A3-2T.
An old A5-2 may be good if you have any.

An Aerotech D21 would be more than enough to do the job real good.

In case anyone is interested there are two paks of vintage A5-2S motors on ebay right now.
Perfect for the Astron Invader.

I flew my Flying Jenny biplane glider on a B14. Exceeded the speed of balsa. The first few hundredths (tenths?) of a second were not too bad, then balsa fragments shredded off in the blink of an eye. I may have taken home a body tube and nose cone. That was over 50 years ago, so I’m not sure.
