This is a pretty neat design. The concept model has been floating around Bill Stine's office since the days when Quest was in Arizona. I'm glad to see it on the market, and it looks like an elegant execution.

Makes you wonder what else will come from the "toy box" doesn't it?

Matt

Yes, Matt, it does.

Lee - I did find a spot to put some 3/32 inch static ports that don't look too conspicuous, yes.

I wonder if it would be better to skip the included launch lug and glue a proper lug somewhere non-obtrusive? Not a fan of that honking big ugly plastic launch lug.

To skip it you'll have to pry it off (or use a heat gun to soften the glue and then pull it off). Either way there will be some touching up of the wrap afterward.....

Ok, I was thinking it was something that the customer had to glue on, not that it was pre-glued.

Thanks.

Nope - pre-installed, along with the shock cord.

I dropped my nosecone and it got a hairline crack just after the clay, for half the circumference. I was looking at the nosecone and widened the hole in the aft end to put some gel ca in there. I noticed that the clay is covered with a cardboard disc, which lead to the realization that the nosecone is moulded in two pieces, and the gray trim is a third part. This will give Estes a lot of flexibility to change around the detail piece for other kits.

Where this is displayed now the darker nose tip is obvious. I was thinking of painting the inside black to make it uniform. Any opinions?

Try it and if it doesn't take care of it, prime and paint the outside white.

How about a dark grey to match the band, but put it up front next to the black tip?
