I noticed that, so that's the direction that I went in. It seemed to me that it not only went left, but came back toward me. Well, I had the "left" part right, but not the "toward me" part. You had the "way left" part dead right. I found it in the "no-man's land" behind second and short, on the OTHER field. Lots o' swampiness out there, but it landed somewhere dry.

A night out in the dew didn't hurt anything. As you can see, it exhibits the classic Scout burn pattern on the fins.

But this wasn't the coolest part of the find..........

Last year I lost my Mach 10D on a C11 flight at B6-4 Field. (You do the math. )

I checked for several weeks, but it looked to be stuck fast. Well, not so fast......

As I was walking along the treeline looking for signs of my lost Scout, I ran across the weatherbeaten remains of the M10D. The motor is swelled in the tube, and the fillets are going to have to be redone, but I'm going to fix this the best I can, then take it back up to try that C11 fight again.

Looks like the engine hook is salvagable.

Oh, it's ALL going to be salvaged. I got the old engine casing out and the motor tube survived the extraction. No way I'm bring it in the house anytime soon, (I think it has cooties,) but I'll have it back flying by April.

I think I'm going to rename the M10D. It's now called "Salvage One".
