Default Ok Tennessee...

So, having mentioned in another thread our move to Tennessee, I figured there are on or two folks here that might be able to answer some stupid questions I cannot seem to find answers to anywhere else. So I started this thread to ask them. I will try to avoid questions like "where did these people learn how to drive" because, having lived in FL for so many years, I know better.

My first question, however, is about a fast food place named Pals Sudden Service (although all I ever see while driving is Pals). There website shows what looks to be mostly common fast food fare, but there are always lines around the building at meal time. So what is up with that place? are they amazing, or amazingly bad?

I live in Middle Tennessee, and I never heard of Pals Sudden Service. Where is it?

I’ve done jobs from one end of TN to the other for the past 30 years. I’ve never heard of it either. Perhaps it can be found online. EVERYTHING is online—————-and it’s ALL true.

From Wiki: The first store was opened in 1956 in Kingsport, TN. There are a total of 30 locations.

It looks like they are all in the NE corner of TN and SW Virginia.

I've been to Kingsport once for a wedding, and to Morristown twice, coaching in Babe Ruth state tournaments. The only other time I've ventured NE of Knoxville was to go to Mt. Airy, NC (Yes, Mayberry, USA). I don't recall seeing the stores on any of the trips, but they were all over 25 years ago and I've slept many times since then.

I was driving through SE Ohio last Wednesday and passed a Ski machine. It was name-checked back in the late 80's/early 90's in a Kentucky Headhunters song, Dumas Walker. (At the time I worked with a college kid whose friends swore the band were singing "Let's all go down to do Miss Walker". It's not a song I hear often, but when it pops up in my head, that's how I hear it. Always liked those little regional soft drinks like Sundrop, Cheerwine, Ale-8 One and Ski. When we were kids on vacation it was always fun to try the oddball soft drinks.

The burgers look great on the website. Almost as good as Whoppers and Big Macs look on TV commercials ...
