Estes Optima info.
I'm back from Syracuse. On the optima parts page I have the lengths of all of the BT's and couplers penciled in. I don't know the BT designation of the 2.125" EH retainer tube--it's probably the same tube that was used in the #2001 SV. The PNC is the same cone used in the 2.6" Phoenix and the 2.6" (current) V2 kits.
If you need anything more--just ask! VR, Jeff

That looks like a good use for one of my Executioner kits. |

That's a good idea. The Executioner does have a lot of the necessary parts.

I got an Executioner for the purpose of cloning an Optima. I also already got the fins and other parts from eRockets, then I just have to get the stickers from Stickershock.

I finally got my Optima delivered here in China... One thing that I can now confirm... The Orange wrap is a glitter based decal, and there is no pattern to the distribution of the glitter.

On the Optima that I just finished I used the fin patterns and made one-piece TTW fins from a sheet of 24” x 8” x 1/8” Midwest balsa. Balsa that wide is starting to get a little scarce.

I had no idea balsa sheets were available in 8” widths! Up until recently, I have always bought it locally. And usually the widest is 3”. But all our hobby shops are gone, and Hobby Lobby can be really hit or miss on the quality of their balsa. A few months ago I placed a BMS order for parts, and decided to add some balsa and basswood to my order. Could not be happier with the quality. I know many order balsa online, and there may be better deals out there, but I’d definitely continue buying balsa and basswood from BMS when I am placing a parts order. Plus, I met Bill Saindon at NARAM-60, and he is just a great guy to work with. I first did business with him in 1992, when he was doing custom nose cones and transitions.

The Hobbytown north of me in St.Charles has (had) that width—but it might have been VERY old stock because it appeared to have fallen down behind the display years ago and was covered with ghost turds (dust bunnies). I snagged (3) sheets of it and I use it very sparingly.

I've never seen balsa wider than 4".
I have some plywood leftover from the DBRM that should work well for the fins. |

I'm not an expert on the subject, but you might want to consider TTW fins if you're going with plywood.
