New Design: Neptune Probe
Here is a quick and dirty probe design I call the Neptune Probe. With the 18mm motor mount this bird attains about 220' on both B4-2 and the B6-2. On a C6-3 it will get an atlitude of about 385' which puts it safely in the VR class of designs. Keeping these designs in the VR class can sometimes be a challenge as well.
 Lately I have finished Rocksimming the other 6 mini-jet designs and will post them asap. The final 6 designs will bring the total to 15 as promised.  Thanks and Enjoy, JP James Pierson NAR# 77907

New Design: Mini Jet #9
Here is Mini Jet #9. Seems to fly just as well as the others do. I like the silver and red color scheme as it seems to be more of a vintage color choice. Well at least in my minds eye.

Do cathode rays cause mutations?
I've been working in TV for almost 6 years, and *watching* TV for much longer, so it's no *wonder* things like this happen.
  James Pierson accused me of keeping all my "really *cool*" designs to myself. But I threw this together tonight, and I *had* to show *somebody!* --So here you go.(JP, this was *somewhat* inspired by your "Neptune Probe" design, which is Pretty Stinkin' Cool, as far as *I'm* concerned. )And I figure I can at least release my RockSim file for the Semroc BC-1043, which is Carl's recreation of the Centuri PNC-102 "SkyLab" nose cone. (I took measurements from an *original* PNC-102.   )EDIT: I just posted a higher-resolution version of the RockSim 3D exported images. Sun 22 Oct 2006

New Design: Irr-Regulas
Jay, the Mutator is a vey cool design. I see the Idaho influence with the word "tator" in the name.
I am glad you liked the Neptune Probe and you are welcome to use any spec of any design of mine as long as you post it. Here is a new design I call the Irr-Regulas. I have managed to make it with three different motor mounts to meet the different circumstances of each builder. The 13mm motor mount will quailfy as a schoolyard sounder for the rocketeer with a smaller fiying field. The 18mm motor mount will attain a atlitude of 971 feet on a C6-5 for the rocketeer with a larger flying area. Also changing the main body tube from a BT-50 to a BT-60 will quaiify this design in the VR class as the atiitude on a C6-3 motor will only be 463 feet. This motor changing business seems to work with most designs with a little tweeking here and there. My goal lately is to save my 12 best designs and post them on the week and a half before Christmas, hence, the 12 designs of Christmas. I have seven saved up so far. Final tweaking of a prototype might indicate the need for some off-set (or even vectored) thrust to compensate, which RockSim cannot handle yet. Keep up the designs, James. I've lost count right now of how many this will make, but the number 400 is beginning to seem reachable!

Rocksim Stability Analysis
Craig, as far as drag related non-symmetrical designs and wondering if this design would veer of to one side, I have been using the stability analysis feature in Rocksim to check the symmetery. I at least hope that is what this feature is for anyways?? On the tool bar under "Rocket" I click "Stability Analysis". I try to keep the blue and green circles semmetrical to each other. At least my best guess and some tweeking seems to do the trick. If I am using this feature in the wrong manner let me know what it (stability analysis feature) is would you. JP

New Plan -- Argo
OK, just another simple design this time. This might even be one of my next construction projects, once I get a few current "only in their underware" jobs finished...
It's called the Argo; I wanted to hold the name Argosy off for a later project. Length: 17.2" Diameter: 0.908" (ST-8) Fin Span: 4.91" Weight: 0.99 oz All motors reach flight velocity on a standard launch rod. Due to the high Dv rates, a parachute is not recommended.
