I agree the price is high but as a collector explained to me years ago when he bought a single Centuri parachute pack from me for $42 (after a bidding war with another collector), when you have a collection with one very tiny hole in it, and you've been collecting for years, you never pass up a chance to collect the final item.

That Phantom launch pad being offered is in unbelievably good condition and extremely rare (i have no idea who the seller is, no vested interest here). Not really as historically "important" as an MMI started kit but I won't be surprised if it goes for almost the same kind of money.

Wow! $475 as I write this, and it still has six days left!
~20 years ago - before I became a BAR - I started selling off my early 1970's Estes collection on ebay (it was in the process of doing that I got interested again and became a BAR). The first thing I put up was a mint, sealed SPEV kit - I had no idea it was particularly valuable.
It sold for about $475 (and I was told later than people would have gone higher if they knew who I was - as it was the rocketry community on ebay had never heard of me and so were leery of a potential scam).

I hesitated to put this in the ebay 'silliness' thread, because basically (barring glaring stupidity) how someone bids/spends money is really their own business. But I thought it might be interesting to see how high this one ultimately climbs.

That seller is out of his gourd with his buy-it-now prices.
$316.79 for a 1284 Space Shuttle.
$300 for a Titan IIIC.
$800 for a Cineroc.

Those that pay these prices must have bumped their heads. HARD from about a 50' vertical drop.
Absurdity.

The same LUNATIC seller is trying to get $20,000 for a mint condition 1983 Mongoose Supergoose BMX bicycle. He might get 10% of that.

His motorcycle parts (some are downright useless JUNK) have equally ABSURD pricing.

I did check out that bike.
It's worth maybe 10-15% of what he is asking ; $2k to $2.5k. It would not be worth $20k if it survived ground zero of a nuclear holocaust in pristine new condition.

There should be a "button" on ebay that triggers a ebay-expulsion for gougers that prey om nit-wits like this clown. 🤡

Well, this thing might eventually break $1K. Seriously.

GH, restricting the clown's right to prey on nit-wits? I never thought I'd hear that coming from you.

It really is a rare item. I've never seen one for sale since I got back into rocketry in '97. That doesn't mean none have sold since then, I just never saw one.

Definitely too rich for my blood.
