There were never any molds made for the Enertek nose cones. They would have been blow-molded. The only Enertek molds ever made were some prototype compression molds for the 24mm and 30 mm motor cases. The Mantis launch pad mold was well underway when the company folded. Over $100K was poured into making the Mantis mold and it would take thousands of more dollars by AeroTech to get it to work. The Enertek fin drawings are packed away somewhere in all my stuff. My friend Marc McReynolds had the Enertek display at the NARAM-41 ORR.

Fascinating! It's amazing how much molds cost to make and It's so cool the Mantis survives to this day. Gary recently posted it's molded in stronger plastic today. I used mine the weekend before last, the first time it was used since the mid 90s. I visited Aerotech in Las Vegas in 1996 and bought a replacement swing arm for it. Thanks again for all the info, it's great to get a window into the drivers behind some of the great rocketry products that changed the hobby back then. |

Thanks for pointing that out, wonderful! Sadly it appears all but three of the pictures in that thread are gone. I have noticed many (most?) of the threads brought in from the archive lost the pics.

Enertek Initiator Fin
Attached is the actual drawing of the ENERTEK Initiator fin pattern.
If you wish to clone the Enertek Initiator the following information will be useful: Body Tube: 2.5" O.D. x 24" Nose cone: 5:1 ogive Motor mount: 30mm I.D. (You will have slightly increase the fin tab depth for use with a 29mm motor tube Install recovery system of your choice.
