Question Rocket Bad Motor Or Somehting Else?

I launched a LOC/PRECISION NORAD PRO MAXX ON AN H 170 MOTOR AND THE FLIGHT WAS SUCCESSFUL.

After that I tried to get the fuel grains out of the casing. I had to use screwdrivers, knives....any tool you caan imagine . Finally got it out but damaged the outside and insid e of the casing. I have tried to fly this same rocket using the same casing and the same ful grins but what happens is that the rocket gets a foot or so off of the lauch rod and then flies in circles a few times. Rocket never gets more than 10 feet off of the ground. The parachute ejects. The flight is a total failure.

Yesterday I was examning (for about the 5th time) the casing and discovered a very, very small hole about one inch from the aft of the casing. The hole is about a half of a milimeter.

Could the hole in the casing be the cause of the failures? Does it sound like the most probable cause?

I can't think of anything else which would cause the failures........Same rocket, same fuel grains, same casing.

If you have any ideas I would appreciate hearing from you.

Yes the hole is the cause of your failure..I would not use that case ever again..Is this an Aerotech case or Cesaroni?

The casing was an Aerotech. Is there a motor out thrre that doesn't havew so manyh steps to assemble?

AeroTech motors are fine, you just need to be focused so you don't miss steps.

Some enjoy flying Cesaroni motors (CTI).

It is usually best (i.e., convenient) to fly with the brand that your motor vendor carries at launches.

Lowest cost per flight among the common composite companies in Aerotech. Highest availability as well.
There are motors with far fewer steps to assemble; some you basically drop a cartridge into the case but the cost per flight is out-freakin-rageous compared to Aerotech.
Follow the Aerotech directions to the letter EVERY time and you will rarely have any issues.
Lose focus during assembly and you WILL have failures.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !
