Wasn't the F-102 such a cool jet?
Not to say THE coolest...
Not to say THE best... Not to say THE greatest... But a very nice looking aircraft.

I think the F-106 is much prettier, in addition to working better.

I like all of the "Century Series".
Of all of the series, my favorite is the F-105 Thunderchief. It was originally designed as
a tactical nuclear bomber. It could do Mach 2 and deliver the goods; especially during the Vietnam war. Bombs, missles, etc. Bob

The F-102 was an underperfoming SLUG.
The F-106 however was the real deal. We had those here in Michigan in the MIANG until 1984. My ABSOLUTE LEAST LIKED in the century series was the F-105 Thud. Couldn't pull any G's worth a hoot without over-stressing the airframe. One could not design an UGLIER aircraft either. Makes the F-101 Voodoo look nice and those all fell out of the UGLY TREE. The BEST looking of the bunch BY FAR was the F-104 Starfighter and is the only one still flying other than the F-100.

Yep, gotta vote for the 104. Some of the others are not bad per se, but hard to beat the Missile With A Man In It.

The F-106 was my favorite of the Century Series. Built here in San Diego, California. It still holds the speed record for single-engine jet aircraft at 1,525.95 mph (Mach 2.43).

In addition to top speed, the F-106 was probably the most maneuverable and useful of the bunch.

Started watching the old Steve Canyon TV show tonight. They had a bunch of F-102s, along with a B-50 and a Matador missile. Was kinda neat seeing the old stuff again in black and white.

Ah, the Delta Dagger.
I think that was the very first plastic airplane kit I ever bought. Though it was not truly one of the Century Series, my favorite for that era was the F-111 with the swivel wings. Of the actual Century Series, I liked the Starfighter the best. I also like the name Thunderchief and the looks of the plane. I bought several the wooden Thud models from a couple of decades ago intending to make them fly, both under rocket and ducted fan power. Never got around to them yet. Bill
