I have never seen any publication numbers, but the 1971 catalog is far more frequently found up for sale than the 1972.
Just about any catalog 1969 and later is found to show up more frequently than the '72.

Was my first rocket catalog of any sort. It is still my favorite Estes catalog, but the 1971 and 1976 are favorites too.

The '76 catalog had some really great additions like the 1284 Space Shuttle and the Nike Ajax.
