You might consider a thicker polycarbonate plastic. Abd epoxy glue.

I don’t know what you guys have against that 1/200 Saturn V that you have to punish it so. C12-4s are fine motors to fly it on.
I will be punishing a couple of other models with C18s and D20s at NSL this weekend, though…..

The 1/200 Saturn V is a heavy BRICK.
An 18mm D is appropriate.

For the D20 flights, they needed strengthening. I found some random plastic sheets sitting around, about the same thickness as the original fins. I cut them out with #11 blade and glued on with liquid plastic cement, making sure to get a good joint at the root edge - this seems to be the critical part. It looks awful, but very effective. It really scoots on the D20, though it's not a very viewable flight, unless you can take photos at > 1/2000th of a second. The D16 can actually be seen on the way up.

Got an arrow-straight flight today on the 1:200 Saturn V with a D20-4W, off my original Porta-Pad. It held up just fine with the fin strengthening, along with a little clay nose weight to compensate.

That does appear to be a true, original Porta-Pad in its first color: yellow! Don’t see too many of those around anymore. Orange ones are much more prevalent. Earl

I bought a Porta-Pad in 1977 and it was Orange.
I thought the yellow ones were much newer.
