Centuri Fireflash
Okay, we all know I can't leave well enough alone. (That's a given.)
So anyway, my latest obsession seems to be recreating the Centuri Fireflash: http://www.spacemodeling.org/JimZ/km-5.htm As I'm trying to replicate this, I figured out that the "duct tubes" (see the attached file below) inserted into the ST-5 pod and main tubes are about 1/4" in diameter. Now, on the ~191% ST-10 upscale that I'm planning, I can substitute Semroc BT-3's, but what should I use for the original size? (From what I recall of my original Fireflash "back in the day," the duct tubes were something like fish paper.) Any suggestions on what to use for 0.25" tubes that wood glue would stick to? (Come to think of it, I could slot some BT-3 and slip it in... )

Just Me?
I too, love this design but unfortunately never had one . If it were me I would forget the original ducted tube method and use the rear ejection design that I used in the Tri-Magnum design. Just a thought , JP

I pretty sure BMS sale a ¼” body tube, and I know you can get a ¼” plastic tube from Hobby Town and just use CA.

Rebooting an old thread
As I mentioned on Bob Thomas' 2X Centuri Fireflash thread, I decided I needed to build a 1.00X version before attempted an upscale to ST-10 tubes.
http://www.spacemodeling.org/JimZ/km-5.htm Here's the parts list from JimZ updated with Semroc numbers. Qty. -- Part -- Length 4 BC-510P Nose cone -- 1.0" 1 BC-522P Nose cone -- 2.2" 1 ST-565 main body tube -- 6.5" 2 ST-550 pod body tube -- 5.0" 3 TB-7 (CR-57) centering ring (plus 2 extra) 1 TB-5 Thrust block 2 LL-103 Launch lug -- 0.375" 2 LL-303 Launch lug (ejection port) -- 0.375" 1 1/12" dia. Dowel -- 12.0" 1 1/16" T balsa fins 1 CP-12 Parachute 1 1/8" Braided elastic -- 18.0" The 1/12" diameter birch dowel is cut into 8 - 1" long pieces, 6 - 1/2" long pieces, and you should have about 1" left over to cut the remaining 11/16" long piece. This will probably be a display model. I'm using a single 6.5" long main body tube instead of the original 2.5" and 4.0" long tubes. I think the reason the directions say to stuff the original plastic nose cones with clay is so that the model would fly stably on Centuri's 1/2A4-3M, A4-4M, and B4-5M motors. At any rate, there's the first step. Cheers,

If you'd like to go "all plastic" with a Centuri Fireflash clone (like the originals), Sirius Rocketry sells resin duplicates of the Centuri PNC-51 elliptical plastic nose cones (see: http://www.siriusrocketry.biz/ishop...products_id=172 ) that were used in the Fireflash's fuel tanks, and the Estes Gnome/Quark BT-5 size (4:1 ogive) plastic nose cone is virtually identical to the Centuri PNC-54 that formed the Fireflash's ramjet nose.

Thanks for the heads up! I had already ordered the balsa replacements during Semroc's fabulous Christmas sale. As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm building the original size model as a reference for a ~2.00X ST-10/13-based upscale, which should have *plenty* of room for the recovery system. Thanks and cheers,
