I tried using Scotch brand yellow electrical tape (from Home Depot) but could not satisfactorily cut it down to ½" widths. But I like the color. I found a variety pack there - probably the same assortment you did. It contained some ½" wide orange-yellow tape that I used instead. I would have preferred a different shade, but the width was my priority. Quote:
Upon further consideration, I suppose, with some heat, monokote or vinyl signs can be removed without damaging the capsule. Doug .

Tape talk...

I was basing the 3/4" material on the photograph that Earl posted. Authentic Cineroc Tape Strips. Photo Courtesy Earl Cagle Jr. 3/8"*2=6/8" (aka 3/4"). Lay a strip down on say, glass or a nonstick surface, then split it down it's length, you end up with the two strips of 3/8". Quote:
I'm really beginning to believe that the stuff from Amazon.com is pretty close to the right material. Thanks! Jim .

Your home page is one of my bookmarks. I get bummed whenever I check in and see that the last update was the nose weight page from 2010.

Here's some stuff I'm still trying to complete, for example: http://www.doug79.com/motor-retention/toc-index But there's still a bunch of stuff to add to it. I really need to write up a page on external motor hooks, for example. One of these days... Doug .

Found image, now to find a parachute...
Ok, I found Gary's Old Cineroc Movies on Youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_90XW6OuMY Anyone know where I can find a 'chute that looks like the ones in the video? Below are screen grabs from the video. Cineroc Parachute circa 1970 Cineroc Parachute circa 1975 Thanks Jim .

Ok, forget the Parachutes...
In a parallel thread , I learned that the 'chutes from the 70's are subject to age related issues, and shouldn't be used for anything other than determining the valuable of an old kit (or ruining it if used for recovery).
I found this image in Earl's thread... MIB Cineroc being unboxed. Photo Credit Earl Cagle Jr. I still have some of those old red and black Estes Logo 'chutes (unused, but ventilated) , so I'll use one of them if it's still in good shape. I can now see on this computer that there is only one white logo/cineroc decal w/the camera. Still haven't managed to get a 100% answer for the question about one or two (if any) blue logo/cineroc/OMEGA decals included in the RC-8 combo offer. However, since I'm making my rocket based on the '74 catalog photo rocket, rather than a stock, I'm going to add... One, opposite the launch lug. ( Sorry for all the grief Gord.... I'll be back for more decals later...) I'll have a spare for any unfortunate situation in the future. Still waiting for the Semroc shipment to arrive. Jim .

Back to the tape...
Found another assortment of colored electrical tape today, this time at Napa auto parts. The yellow looked about right.
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C...1734_0361186105 It was a little over $6.00 USD, but I didn't pick it up because I'm still hoping for an answer on the stuff from Amazon.com JVCC V-36 Colored Vinyl Tape: 3/4 in. x 36 yds. (Yellow). Oh, and a look at Harbor freight turned up this assortment of tape for only ~$2.00 USD http://www.harborfreight.com/colore...pack-66462.html I think I've found my tape, but I'm still willing to hear from more experienced people. Thanks for looking! (still no rocket in hand ) Jim .
