Classic Alpha and Omega
I've been working on my Greek alphabet the last few weeks.
I finally finished my classic Alpha. After looking at many catalog photos and reading advise from members, I decided to go with my original idea for blue stripes, regular star-n-bar, and Italian red nosecone. It has a very minimalistic look to it that I like. This ad in a late 60's Boy's Life magazine is what gave me the inspiration to build the Alpha. The two color art in the 1968 catalog was the final decision in going with blue and red instead of black. Now to the Omega. Some of you remember my Cineroc Omega clone crashing a while back. I forgot about poopy clay and paid the price with a thrust vectored booster motor on an overly stable rocket resulting in severe tipoff at launch. The sustainer and the "Cineroc" tv camera payload were completely destroyed. I recently built a new sustainer and mated it back with the old booster and regular Omega payload section. I have started on a new Cineroc payload section, but in the mean time, this standard Omega will have to do. |

Thanks guys. The Alpha's blue looks considerably lighter in the photo than in real life. I don't know if it's my monitor or the fact that I was using a flash only a couple feet from it. The stripe color was copied from the color in the stars-n-bars, so you get the idea of the nice deep blue it should be.

I mentioned the same thing about Indiana's early Big Bertha clone (pics on TRF) with USAF markings. I think the two rockets would make a nice photo. |

They both look great. I like your choice of decor on the Alpha. I wish my clones looked that good.

LOL! The Beta was sitting on the other end of the pool table. It's waiting on a bit of white paint to repair a ding suffered when the little rascal staged on my special 1/4A3-0 booster and slammed back into the launch pad. |
