That’s interesting. Do tell us more. Direct staging or....?

As a thought experiment, I can see that it would be more likely to work with a Q-Jet C or D since the nozzles are bigger than the As/Bs and the propellant grain (or at least the bottom of it) is closer to the nozzle.

Yes, direct staging. With tape.

Cool!

Dare I ask how reliable that is? I don’t really have any sacrificial two-stage models I’d be willing to try this in off the top of my head, if it’s hit or miss.

They tried it successfully a few times, don't have statistics, but I know staging to a 'B' Q-Jet was not reliable for the reasons you noted.

Thanks for the update, looking forward to these motors! I buy the C12/D16 in bulk packs, and think I'll like these even better.

Karl has completed the certification motors and they will likely be shipped to TMT tomorrow.

That's awesome! Can you say why you use TMT vs NAR? (I like NAR's presentation of test data better).

Do you anticipate a ship date for production motors?

TMT has had quicker response times, better data and better luck in getting the motors to ignite properly.

I would rather not predict a ship date until the motors are certified. Sometimes we are over impulse with these small motors due to the limitations of our own equipment, and the uncertainty in the estimation of performance resulting from the difference in elevation between the AeroTech and TMT test locations (about 5,600 feet). If that occurs with the C motor, we will need to submit another set of samples.
