I'll second that. As a member of the timing team I had a lot of close interaction with many of the teams and their managers. No one grumbled (in a language that I understood, or by posture, facial expressions, etc.) about the thrust or strong ejection charges. It looked to me like had mostly adapted their construction and flying techniques to compensate.

[QUOTE=Gus]Thanks for posting that, Scott.
Event Director James Duffy graciously tapped me to present you and your teammates your gold medals. Truly a great honor for me to be able to do that.

QUOTE [No grumbling was overheard by the Event Director. Our European and Asian friends adapted to the stronger thrust and more aggressive ejection charges well, as one would expect from experienced rocketeers. There seemed to be great appreciation for the fact that everyone was using the same motors regardless of the source. All scale competitors used Estes and Aerotech motors, but that shift was already underway as the top fliers and builders have done so for many years.]
Interesting! That's good to know on the scale models. I'm also happy to hear a positive response to the idea of everybody using the same motors! |
