Comrade High-Viz,
Thanks for that. Interesting in that the Tomahawk has what looks to be a 7" payload diameter with various section of metal and gold anodized. Also, the booster is a Ute. Both appear to be painted in gray tones rather than metallics.

Until now, no color documentation has been available for the UTE-TOMAHAWK . . . Hopefully, this will be helpful to scale modelers. Although not 100% verified, it is reasonable to hypothesize that the same color scheme may have been used on PAIUTE Boosters, as well. Dave F. |

Comrades,
It's been a long time on this project but the picture shows Ute and Paiute together prior to painting. The Ute has flown several times, but I just finished the Paiute. Yesterday, I added bolt details to the fin mounts on both of them; each fin has 20 bolts. Based on the pictures in this thread, I'm going to paint them today using various shades of primer. We'll see how it comes out.

Mark - I am surprised that you said you had not seen a Ute-Tomahawk. I'm positive the first and only time I saw one was at NARAM-21 in Houston, and it was Bob Justis's. You may want to check to see if he still has his data.
I ended up later with full size drawing set of what Roy posted, but gave them to someone in the late 80s to draw up, and never saw them again. Chris - the color photos are fantastic. I have never seen a color photo of the bird. There was a time when this looked like it might be a good scale altitude bird for FAI events, but there was never enough data to model it. Thanks, Dave, Roy, Chris, and everyone else who posted info. Matt |
