Peeling decals
I had some old water slide decals for an Orion that I cloned which didn't set well and have peeled up. Is there a way to fix them so that they stick to the body tube?
(I also have another rocket with peel and stick decals which have a few edges that are peeling up a bit. Any ideas for that too?) |

Microscale has products to soften, reset, and protect old decals.

I've used a tiny dab of thin CA to glue down the edges of unruly decals with some success. It is tricky though.

When I encounter this problem, I use decal adhesive.

Which Orion ?
Centuri, Attack Craft, or Starfighter ?

Semroc had the parts list for the Centuri Orion years ago. I built my first clone many years ago and decided to build another from scratch this year. I had old Sandman decals that didn't age well. They didn't go on perfectly but it's not a total disaster. Micro Sol helped to set them but some were problematic because they were so thin. I DO really like the rocket because it's such an unusual design.

A model I'm working on needed some trim film added to represent some masking tape found on the prototype. For this I used some old MicroScale White decal trim film, the operative word being old. Application showed that the original adhesive had lost its vigor, so out came the Tamiya Decal Adhesive. Everything settled down just fine. Good stuff to have on hand for uncooperative decals.
