Default Interceptor Clone

Hi folks,

The Interceptor clone I'm working on is coming along nicely, if slowly. The assembly is mostly complete, now on to the filling & sanding. It has parts from BMS, Thrustline, and, of course, Moldin' Oldies. I'm very happy with the plastic parts, hope the epoxy holds on the pods ok. I rough sanded the pods, glued on with epoxy, then put epoxy fillets on both sides. Thanks Kurt for the fin alignment wrap, it worked great.

I'm trying to build this one as close to the original directions as possible (which I didn't do 30 years ago ). The motor mount is built with centering rings and a coupler, but I don't see couplers used on motor mounts of newer kits. Why the change?

I also wish I knew why I only put on half the decals on my original. Stay tuned for more pics .

-Paul

Default Finished!

Two months and thousands of decals later, my K50 clone is finished. Well, almost, I just have to decide what kind of clear coat to put on. The decals from Excelsior are great! I'm kind of decal challenged, and never seem to get them on perfectly, so have to slide them around a bit. No, make that a lot. Not one decal ripped on me despite my abuse. I goofed up placement on one small pair of decals (looking at my original instead of the instructions); oh well, if it was perfect, I might not want to launch it. This one looks so much better than my vintage one (on which I inexplicably left off many of the decals, heck, I was only 13), I'm tempted to repaint & redecal it.

And once again, I FORGOT the launch lugs!
