Sorry, no official RockSim file is publicly available yet. So you'll have to content yourself with looking at the pretty pictures.

My order is placed for the CD copy of RockSim V9. Apogee's website still says these are "pre-orders", with delivery "before Christmas 2008". That only gives them 9 days...

Has anyone else actually received V9 yet?

Smile New Design: Clone Probe

This design was inspired by a probe from the animated series of Star Wars called the 'Clone Wars". I am once again using the zero-mass rear transition to simulate the aft drag to make this particular design stable. This one goes on the build list just to see if it will actually preform as Rocksim says . Should be an interesting flight test none the less .

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to ALL, JP.

Mine (with CD) is ordered, but it was a Xmas present from my wife.

So I won't get it until the 25th!

Exclamation New Plan -- Sol Prix Racer

OK, folks, this is what we've been waiting for! A RockSIM V9 design!

I downloaded the V9 BETA software, and (in spite of some beta clutziness) I was able to work right in to this design without much difficulty. Some of the functionality of the program remains to be "fleshed out" -- right now, you cannot 'Ctrl-C copy' or 'Ctrl-V paste', and the custom fin editor is in need of some repair. But I think it's enough to get started.

You will need to download the beta (if it is publicly available, that is) to look at the RKT file, as this design incorporates the new "pods" feature. I LIKE PODS!

Length: 24.28"
Diameter: 1.04" (ST-10)
Fin Span: 7.24"
Weight: 1.76 oz

A8-3......132'......Dv 21 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod
B4-4......306'......Dv 22 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod
B6-4......310'......Dv 18 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod
C6-5......648'......Dv 28 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod (reef the chute)

This design probably needs some additional tweaking to reduce the Dv numbers, but it will fly as-is.

Enjoy!

Smile New Design: Fandango Express

Cool design Craig. I have yet to purchase Rocksim 9 as it it my main Christmas gift this year. I will probably just get the download and CD like Jay did.

This next design called the Fandango Express came about from the Ballitsa design. The Fandango Express has an more vintage sleek look to it. Although the Dv's are a little on the high side it should prove to be an interesting flier.

Thumbs up RS9 is "in the *house!*" (or on my computer, anyway)

Nope, just downloaded the beta like you did.

*DANG,* PODS ARE COOL!

And yes, I need to finish up "that one design" that I've been waiting just for RS9 to complete!!

--But my beta copy quits working on January 11th.

Cheers,

Exclamation Revised Plan -- Antares

Here's one of my older designs, the Antares, using PODS for the... well, the fin tip pods...

Looks good, and the simulation runs seem to be consistent with what I've seen in the wild.

Same basic specs, just better graphics...

Looks like I need to take the time and upgrade to R9. Tried to open the Antares file and was stopped by an error message!!

Here is design that was inspired by another that was just recently posted. I am calling this
design the Astro Zipper. I am still not happy with the fin design but they will do for now.
The altitudes and Dv's are fair although I am pushing it with the C6-5 a little. We will just
have to wait and see if the build/test flights match how I simmed this design.
