This is as corect as I can remember. I do remember some metric figures/dimensions etc. in metric kit. But they were 2 different releases. |

I dont remember talking 2 U about this but was in my inbox (always welcome though !) But I never knew WHY the Mylar tube to begin with. Bt 20 (regular tube-not clear) would work just as good for streak-unless that extra 50 feet or so was that important ! Why not just glue fins & cone directly to engine ? ! (just kidding). Probably not gonna find the rocket anyway (Streak w/C6-7). (I know, recovery purposes, etc.).ps if U want a waterproof rocket, seal balsa & paint & apply lots of clear coats. Seal engine w/wax. Is only gonna be wet a minute or less. |

Metric Alpha....not 1225
While looking for something else I came across the attached Metric Alpha instructions scan file. It shows a P/N of 1408 on the bottom of the face panel. It also shows a balsa cone as well as fins - original Alpha construction except for the thicker AR-2050 centering rings.
It is NOT the EK-25 Alpha II with the longer motor mount tube and shock cord attached to the motor hook. Scan of that also attached. One more variation....

Indeed! That is why the Streak came with two fin patterns--the angular-cut sport pattern (shown on the kit card and in catalog illustrations) and the rounded-tip competition fin pattern. The instructions also suggested (and illustrated) the nose cone-hollowing option for further lightening competition Streaks. I was able to recover my father's Streak on an "A"-powered and a "B"-powered flight, but when we tried a C6-7...well, it's still somewhere at Tamiami Park unless someone else found it. Also:
A mini-motor powered Streak (with a streamer-recovered, ejectable motor mount) would be useful for spot-landing competitions, particularly on small fields. Since it falls nose-first, a Streak might beat a Scout or a Lil' Herc because they (using tumble recovery instead of featherweight recovery) might drift more with the wind. For a Streak optimized for spot-landing competition, increased mass (up to a point) would be an advantage, so BT-20 or PST-20 tubing would be preferable, to make it fall a bit faster and drift less.
