Empty Nest, My Babies Have Grown Up
My baby girl has grown up. A few of you may remember her from the March/April 2007 issue of Launch Magazine. Katie got married this weekend. Empty nest syndrome is about to set in on me. My son, Kody, (Intruder when he was active in YORF) thanks to model rocketry, is a computer engineer working with F-16 avionics for Lockheed in Ft. Worth, near our old YORF buddy Doug Sams (RIP). Katie is now an engineer with a state contracted construction company. Rocketry has done its job planting the seeds for success in my kids, growing up and accomplishing way more than I ever could.
Here are a few pics of Katie and her big brother in Launch Magazine's March/April 2007 edition.

Congratulations! You made two educated, contributing members of society. That's the best anybody can do - so enjoy it!

Congrats there, Tim! Many mighty, mighty blessings there, but then again I think you know that without anyone telling you. Many blessed years together to her and your new son in law. Are they staying local or will they too be out of the area?
Maybe time to focus on a new rocket project or two when the dust settles there to help refocus and to curb the heart pains from sending that last one out into the world and away from the home nest. God bless. Earl

Tim, you must be very proud. You've given them both a great start to life and they owe Dad a lot.

Thanks, guys. Yes, they are staying local. Katie went straight from her internship with the local gas utility to the construction company. The head of the gas company went to college with one of the owners of the construction company and recommended her. They build bridges, roads, etc. so she spends part of her time in the lab, part of it at their quarries, and part of it on job sites. My kids were definitely blessed to pretty much get their dream jobs as their first real employment.

Yep my daughter's a senior in high school this year... already planning for Texas Tech, by the looks of it. Way smarter than I'll ever be. But that's how it should be.
I'm right behind you there tbzep... Later! OL J R

AND I should say I've gained a son as well... her boyfriend Kasey is a football player and senior in high school as well, and planning to go to Tech. He moved in with us a year or so ago, due to an abusive situation at home. He's a good kid and I wasn't gonna see him out on the streets, so we made room for him here at one end of the house and Keira at the other. I was abused myself growing up, so I understand what he's gone through.
Later! OL J R
