New Design: Gaurdian 13mm
Thanks alot guys for all the kind words as they are greatly appreciated. I think that the greatest compliment that a rocket geek like me could have is for someone to actually build one of my posted designs. Now that would be cool.

This update will use a database to keep a record of downloads and which designs are most-popular, and will have a "What's New" section to showcase the most recent additions. Hopefully I can include a Gallery of photos whenever we start receiving them...

New Plan -- Tau Eridani
Another Schoolyard Sounder...
Optimum motor is the A10-3T. Open-frame fins and the BC-760 nose cone... Altitude should be consistently around 275', with a Dv of 4 FPS, a stability margin of 3.78 loaded, and only requiring 21" of launch rod. Enjoy!

New Design: Tau Astron Nomex
Here is a design I call the Tau Astron Nomex. I have experimented a little with Jay's Tau nose cone and realize just how darn good it makes a longer rocket look. Very Very Cool! Although I would rather have it in a lighter PNC version where it would be a little lighter and clay nose wieght could be added if necessary.
As far as these thin rounded fins go, I am calling them out as 3/32" thick balsa, yet I think they need not be cardstock.(wieght factor). Here are two other choices: A: Use 1/16" balsa and rienforce both sides with mailing label self stick paper??? B: Use the 3/32" balsa and paint both sides after mounting with CA?? Both choices should be lightwieght and strong. Any opinions and other options welcome. This one is for the Sci-Fi fans. Enjoy and Thanks Again, JP James Pierson NAR# 77907 . . |

Your option "B" is the way to go, unless you can locate some really flat, unwarped 1/16" sheet stock. You'd have to hand-pick the sheet. Laminating with label stock will improve them, yes, but you still need a warpless balsa core to begin with. Pressing the laminated fins between two heavy flat irons overnight wouldn't hurt, either. Using 3/32" gives a little more dimensional stability. Now, doing all of that plus having Carl cut out the laminated fins with his Krell Laser might keep the stresses in the balsa from coming back. Or not...

New Plan -- Super Javelin
I had to take a break from the really fancy stuff and just put out a simple design.
This is a 2X upscale of the Estes Javelin #2005, using SEMROC ST-13 components. All motors reach flight V in the length of a 36" 3/16" rod, except for the E9-6 which needs a 48" 3/16" rod. New Plan -- Super Wizard
Another upscale of a famous Estes classic. This is a 2X Wizard, using SEMROC ST-13 tubing. 24mm motor mount. All motors except the E9 reach flight velocity on a 36" 3/16" rod. The E9 requires a 48" 3/16" rod.
