Frankly, thinking about pretty much everything I've ever looked at regarding the Omega-D, I can't recall ever even noticing the purple. (But, no doubt, the case is made here that some pics do indeed show it as purple.) Of course, I'm not always super observant. I always thought the nosecone (of the Omega-D) was dark blue, not black. It was only after I built mine that I realized the error, and finally repainted it. Doug .

I agree the shades are different on the two pages, but BOTH look like hues of BLUE to me.

I doubt that the original Omega or Scissor Wing Transport ever came with purple decals. If someone can produce a set of either I sure would like to see them! But at least the catalog images explain why some folks ask for purple. Me neither....I always though the '73 Sprite was white and black (even though I must have looked at it 1000 times) until GH set me straight. |

The Sprite always looked light grey/black (maybe slightly blue-grey) to me in all catalogs but the '73, and definitely NOT white in any catalog. In the '73 catalog it appears near the Constellation which is white and definitely a different color; in that catalog it definitely looks blue-grey with a bias toward blue.
I could have swore I saw early Scissor-Wings with the reddish-purple decals instead of Red. I know the 'classic series' reissue was most certainly Red as I'm building one now. Will check my old one if I can find it in my boxes of unopened vintage kits.

I'll through my 2 cents in here: The decals I'm looking at are blue, just a hair darker than the 'Mean Machine' blue and almost a dead ringer with 'The Shadow' decal, which is a bit glossier due to them being the peel 'n stick variety.

That's really helpful! Having other kits to compare to can help narrow down the "exact" color for those of us who don't own one. Thanks! Jim .

Earl comes through AGAIN!
I'd say those look... Blue.
[EDIT] according to Gord (of Excelsior Rockts) this is his "Medium Blue".[/EDIT] Photo Credit: Earl Cagle Jr. Estes Omega KD-52 Decal Sheet 37051 I hope you don't mind, I rotated and added it to the flickr set of Cineroc details I created. Below, you can see the difference in the shade of blue from Semroc KV-64 Omega Kit's decals. Thanks Again! Jim .

Your welcome. Yes, I had ordered a set of the Semroc Omega decals not too long after I got my vintage Omega kit (little over a year ago) just to have an extra set on hand, as I was not sure how well the ones that came with my kit would hold up once dunked in the water. Alas (and I have not provided this feedback to Semroc as of yet) the Semroc set featured a much darker blue than the vintage Omega kit had. Now, I'm color blind when it comes to some colors (browns/greens and blue/purples), so I was not sure exactly WHAT color the Semroc ones were, but as you can see, the Semroc 'blue' was much darker than the vintage Omega 'blue'.
