New Design -- Phobos V ("Five")
Here's what struck me after coming up with v.2 of the Roguish Lee, my upscale knockoff of the Estes Rogue, and after Craig's discussion of Solo's "use only Semroc parts" challenge.
Factor in the issue that I can't follow directions very well, and, uh... I give you the "Phobos V" (pronounced "Five"), which uses Carl's laser-cut Aphelion fins, but since only three come in a set, you have to order 5 sets for 3 rockets. .

I like it, Jay.
Have you tried it with an 18 mm motor mount?

Jay, I love it. Even though you didn't post it in my Challenge thread, I think it's a real contender.

I didn't post it in your Challenge thread because the CR-513 centering rings from Semroc don't exist. --Yet. Cheers,

Yeah, with that much stability margin with an A10-3T, I wonder about an 18mm motor - say B6-4?
Simple but different. I like it. |

Phobos V -- 18mm version

Look at the deployment velocity on a 1/2A6-2! That's almost perfect! --Not to mention some good performances on A, B, and C motors, too! And all that *with* a great big SE-14 screw eye, as well! BEC, it looks like the 18mm stability margin is 1.40 calibers on a B6-4, and 1.25 on a C6-5. Enjoy, everybody! .

Phobos V feedback -- Jay responds
Quote:
Well, I* didn't* see them last night when I looked here: http://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts...p?idCategory=87 Oops. There they are! --Sorry, *what* was I saying? (covering my embarrassment) Oh, yeah, if you *want* to use the Phobos V in your Challenge project, go right ahead. Although with five fins, you might not want to use it as the first model that your students build. Thanks, buddy! Quote:
Cheers,
