Heh, I still have my 1/70th 1B clone tube/decal set sitting here from Kurt. I never did get around to building that one.

Alrighty, before this thread goes OT I think I better straighten it a bit
Since Sheryl offered a replacement I went ahead without any pressure and modified the nose cone. First I glued the shroud exactly as the instructions suggested since I am assuming the shroud is correct. Then I reduced the diameter of the shoulder so the shroud would fit over. I had to remove quiet a bit of balsa. It was now necessary to move the large ring toward because the shroud was sitting too low. This is how it looks like now:

Leo,
The nominal diameter of the shoulder is 1.268 (32.21 mm), so it appears that your cone was about .017" too large at the shoulder. That is far outside the acceptable range and should not have made it into a kit. If you send Sheryl your address, she will send you a replacement. You did make the oversize cone look good though!

For The World Is Hollow, And I have Touched The SEMROCS!
Today, though cold and blustery outside, the light shone oddly brilliant. Today, a dream unfulfilled for what feels like an eternity began to hold solid form before mine own eyes. Today, gasping for breath and with tremors working their way in both directions along my spine I held in my large, grubby meat hooks The Grail -- that short, white box which bulged at the seams and pleaded with me to give it a nice home, yet which due to lacking for substance I just could not bring myself to do. The Grail.
What makes this statement even more attention-grabbing is that it happened in my LHS, and that it sat otherwise contentedly beneath a wall filled with sibling SEMROC bags. Yes, friends, this was inside the Hobbytown USA here in Mobile, Alabama, and there was I plunging my way through the most beautiful wall of rocketry not seen in over 15 years! I am also likewise informed that the Loxley, Alabama store (owned by the same bright fellow, BTW...) has a similar wall of SEMROCS on display. Could my eyes possibly have decieved me? Dare I say the words? The revolution has begun in earnest! There are genuine model rocket kits with balsa parts hanging proudly inside a hobby shop! While I could not bring forth the residual sufficient to claim this prize for myself, I did manage to egress from the establishment with the Little Joe II, some dowel stock, and a magazine. But patiently waiting for my return at the back of one row of kits was the Taurus, seducing me with its black, white and red color trim; and which I simply am compelled to obtain as well. Ahh, perchance to slumber with dreams of smoke and flame...
