Wanted Estes Mars Lander Merchandise Box - to scan for a printable template to share
I am looking for an Estes Mars Lander kit merchandise box. I wanted to create a self-printable copy of the Estes Mars Lander merchandise box. I always thought the box design was really exceptional. I saw the kit in a hobby store when I was kid circa 1974-75. Now I wanted to be able print out one for myself as a collectable. I just needed clean pictures of the 6 sides of the box, so I can load into Photoshop to make a self printable box template. I am willing to invest the time and have the Photoshop skills. Important to save this unique part of modeling history.
I wanted to reach out to see if others members of the community would please: 1) take hi-res pictures of each of the six sides of the box, or 2) sell me their box so I can scan, or 3) lend me their box so I can scan with my Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 contactless scanner that could do the job without damage to the box. The scanner has a head that would move around to scan the box. I would share the results of my work. I have been unable to find clean pictures of the box online. Please see attached draft picture of what I am trying to create in Photoshop. Thank you in advance for help with my request. Last edited by User1138 : 10-07-2020 at 02:34 PM. |

That would be awesome. I've watched for empty boxes on eBay, but they always end up with a high price (for cardboard) or have damage.

I have a box, but it is in storage. May be a bit faded on one side, but that could be corrected once scanned. It is also the Damon Estes logo, not the white on black orbital logo, which *I* would like to see!

Yes, the 'Oval And Orbiter' version is much scarcer than the Damon type and should be saved for posterity if at all possible. There were also both versions in the K-36 Saturn V kit, and again, the older 'Oval And Orbiter' version is much scarcer. And there happens to be one of those, in good condition, on eBay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apollo-Sat...353.m1438.l2649 |

Go to this thread from April 2019 where I asked the same thing.
https://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=17942 Big thanks to Eagle3 / Buzz for scanning them. Message #8 has links for 3 images. Two each of two sides and a 3rd with the box top. Didn't think to ask about the bottom. Big irony is that this spring as I dug thru a big box of OLD kits to select some to auction.....there was an intact ML kit! I forgot I had it (was among some kits I was given in 1979 by someone already out of the hobby). Right now it is back in that big box , in a closet corner, with a lot of boxes stored on top of it and in front of it.
