Talking 12 Days of Christmas 2009

Well, here we are again on December the 13th 2009 which just so happens to be the 12th Day Before Christmas. I have not been very active here at YORS or with designing more Rocksim designs in recent months , but have managed to create a few designs for the
4th Annual 12 Days Before Christmas 2009.
Since last June, nearly all of my time and energy has been devoted to my newly elected duties of President of Peninsula Carpenter’s Local #1597 of Bremerton, Washington. It is a joy to serve my Brothers and Sisters and has challenged me to grow in many ways. My heart however, would still much rather be building and flying model rockets !!!

4th Annual

12 Days Before Christmas

First design up is the Blizzard of Id. Don't ask why, just go with it .

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to ALL, JP.

Welcome back, JP!

Ya know, I was just thinkin' of ya the other day...

Interesting how the rocket deploys so differently on the Quest B6-4 than it does on the Estes.

Craig, ditto, my friend, as I have been thinking of you as well and Merry Christmas to you.

Yes, the Quest engines seem to have better Dv's. I wonder if that holds true in the real world as well?

I am out of practice lately with the pod feature in Rocksim 9. I had to refresh my "rusty bucket" a few times on the parts as well .
Next design up is the Checkmate with an interesting fin pattern using 1/8" dowels on the root edge for fin placement .

Box fins! I like 'em! Much more elegant than some other designs that I have seen. Unfortunately, I can't view the design file though, because I still haven't upgraded yet. But judging from the 3D shots, I like the lines of it. Box fins can be stylish or they can be clunky. Nothing oafish here; this design is classy.

This next design, the Cosmic Stargazer, was originally a 13mm design that seem to preform even better with the 18mm motors. I added the tip fins for a little more flare and drag. I wish I had the time to change the tip fins by adding a double arc to them as I think this design would look that much better.

I seem to have discovered another "anomaly in the force" if you will. Seems to me that a guy can't find a conical nose cone in the Series 13 listed at Semroc . That being the case I would like to propose the BC-1341 conical that is simulated with this next design called the Iracus One. Besides, I know Carl can make most anything, that most anyone, can dream up concerning balsa .
