Default New Centuri and Estes decals!

Hello All,

Being a very satisfied customer, I wanted to let everyone know that more reproductions of classic Centuri and Estes kit decals are now available from our very own Sandman at Excelsior Rocketry (see: http://www.excelsiorrocketry.com )! The only credit I can claim is that he created them in response to my nagging--but being one, I could hardly help myself. :-)

I was very pleased with the quality of his reproduction Centuri Akela-1 Rocket Derby kit decal (you can see two scans of the original decals here: http://www.oldrocketplans.com/decals.htm ). He has also produced reproductions of the original simple, elegant decals that were used on the early versions of the Estes Zinger (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...85/85est12.html ) and the Estes Wizard (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...82/82est16.html ). The Wizard kit originally had a balsa nose cone, but it was changed to plastic in 1983 (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...83/83est14.html ).

In addition, he created a reproduction of the decal set used on the early version of the Estes Viking (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...86/86est26.html ). [To clone an original Estes Viking, the molded-in-red plastic nose cone can be "scavenged" from the new Estes Moon Mutt kit.] The old-style Estes Viking decals were derived from the decal set in the Centuri Viking kit (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...81/81cen34.html ), which would also make a good reproduction decal set for cloning the original Centuri Viking. Another recent addition is his reproduction of the extensive decal set used on the X-7 and X-16 rockets (and their various optional modular components) of the Centuri Power System Outfit (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...81/81cen46.html and http://www.oldrocketplans.com/decal...ystem_decal.jpg ). Being able to get duplicates of decades-old Centuri and Estes decals like these is another sign that we are indeed living in the Golden Age of model rocketry!

I finished another decal set. The "Kit Name" black decal set D-6 but I added a few extra decals, the Mars Snooper, the Astron Drifter and some extras so it's a full half sheet now.

Also got the Power System set finished.

Excellent! Putting all of those K-Series kit decals on one sheet is a good value, since many model rocketeers (particularly BARs) "build from an era" when cloning kits. The Power System decal set is also, really, for a whole series of models because the X-7 and X-16 rockets could be flown with so many permutations of modular airframe components, each with its own identifying decal (even the X-16's interchangeable motor mounts had their own decals!)

Any chance you could put little pictures of your decals on the site? I'd probably buy more if I knew what they looked like.
