Default Estes ‘Time Capsule’!

Well, these items could be somewhat similar to the Phantom Electro Launch from a couple weeks back.

The seller below has what appears to be an Estes parts order (still in box) along with three unopened kits, all apparently from 1967. A Big Bertha, a Drifter, and a Mark. All look mint.

Link to seller’s items: https://www.ebay.com/sch/2032695/m....=p2047675.l2562

Not my listing nor do I know the seller.

Earl

Niiiice. Parallel wound BT-30 tubes. Love the original balsa cone on the Bertha too. So much better than the shorter one they transitioned to.

Yeah, looks like a nice little treasure trove. I have asked the seller to see if there is a copy of the order form in the box; that would really help to identify just what all is in the box.

I see a roll of "carpet thread" aka parachute shroud line stock.

Is that stuff still made today?

I really have not been able to find the glazed cotton thread like that used by Centuri and Estes back in the day. There are probably 'equivalent' threads today, but I'm not sure how they are spec'd compared to the old carpet thread.

One can still buy 'carpet' thread, but it does not seem to the be same as the old stuff, at least to me.

Looks like a good deal on A8-3 engines, if you want to chance it on engines probably from the late 80s or early 90s.

Priced at $75 plus $10 shipping for 64 engines. These are the bonus four-pack blister packs. When they carried the ‘cobra’ label.
