Pegasus XL PMC kit! (link)
Hello All,
I just found, on Ebay (they're also available elsewhere), plastic model kits of the "Stargazer" Lockheed L-1011 TriStar aircraft with a Pegasus XL launch vehicle (see: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...SUS+XL&_sacat=0 ), which would make a great PMC--Plastic Model Conversion--scale model rocket, for use with the Quest MicroMaxx motors (see: https://www.questaerospace.com/inde...earch=MicroMaxx ). It is a 1/144 scale kit (number EE144137) made by Eastern Express Group, a Russian company, and there are Ebay vendors of this kit in multiple countries (all of the ones I've looked at on Ebay have 100% positive feedback).

It was sad to see the L-1011 Jumbo jet have such a short life carrying passenger air travelers.
In many ways it was superior to it's main competitor, the DC-10 and later MD-11. The L-1011 was the first Jumbo Jet I ever traveled on, Delta Airlines, in 1977. I have traveled on all the others (747, DC-10/MD-11, and Airbus offerings), but that first L-1011 trip was special. It was a family vacation trip to Disney World. First flight AND First Class at age 7 absolutely rocked. I still remember getting served FILET MIGNON with all the trimmings as the in-flight meal both to Florida and the return trip to Michigan. First time having Filet Mignon as well. Got out of school for 10 days in late January and early February 1977 for that trip. I didn't go back to Disney World until much later in life at age 30 with my ex-wife. It was almost exactly the same as I remembered it in 1977. Space Mountain was still fantastic, so was the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride. Most of the same souvenirs were still available. I picked up a "Squeaky Bill" Donald Duck souvenir hat for my brother on that trip in 2000, which really surprised/shocked him as his original was broken shortly after our trip in 1977. My travel on the 747 was rather limited and only upper-deck First-Class. I will say that out of all the Air Travel I have done, upper-deck First Class on a 747 was FAR SUPERIOR to ANY other travel experience. Sad to see passenger travel on the 747 has been discontinued by all USA Domestic carriers. I would NOT want to have to travel "coach" on one of those huge things, however. I once walked down the upper-deck spiral staircase to take a look at the "coach" seating during a flight to Nagoya, Japan. It looked like an overpopulated ANT FARM with 2000lbs of people crammed into each 500lb bag section. NO THANKS ! I positively despise traveling in the DC-9/MD80/Boeing 717 series aircraft, but would prefer that to 747 "coach" travel.

My first commercial flight was in an L-1011 TriStar.
His name was Big Ed. The name of the airline was American Trans Air, ATA. We flew from Boston to Orlando, FL. I thought it was strange that it flew tail heavy. You walk downhill to the bathroom and uphill back to your seat. That was a big mother of a jet! Here is Big Ed. https://www.airhistory.net/photo/182262/N763BE

The L-1011 Tri Star was my first commercial flight as well.
Only flew on that Aircraft one other time, late 90's or early 2000's. Flew on the DC-10/MD-11 more. The first time I flew on a DC-10 the cabin A/C was not working. That really sucked roxx. Flew on a 727 only once. That is the one with 3 engines all in the rear of the aircraft, two on fuse sides and one under the rudder/fin. Never flew on the Concorde, but wish I had. No 707 or DC-8 flights either. Have flown on the 737 more than any other Aircraft. Second most on the DC-9/MD-80/717 series aircraft. Those things are AWFUL in coach seating.

My first jumbo jet flight was also on an L-1011. Toronto to Tampa (Delta) and then a beautiful ride across Florida to West Palm Beach on a Boeing 727 (also Delta). That Tristar was a beautiful aircraft, and apparently the most technologically-advanced of the three jumbos of that era. I only flew on one more, many years later, from Prestwick, Scotland to Toronto.
