TORC Launch - 5/2/15
TORC is having their regional this weekend on the Rip Rap Road field. They flew there a few weeks back, but family obligations kept me from seeing AND PARTICIPATING IN the action. (This time I'm making sure my daughter knows NOT to go anywhere on Friday night. ) This isn't a big field ala VOA or the cornfield, but it's a lot bigger than B6-4 Field. I spent today and yesterday finishing up some of my mid-power armada. The Mega Red Max has been ready to go for two years now, but the closest it's been to the air was four trips to the pad, each of which ended with an Estes igniter failure. I have an F50-6 marked for it, then maybe a G40-7 if that goes well. I hope to finally fly my SLS Goblin after more than a year. The Goblin, Rascal and the Enerjet 1340 all have 29mm mounts, and I've been laying in a stock of the Estes 29mm BP motors. Also have the Leviathan that can go with either AP or BP. The other birds are all "little" 24mm flyers, the newly touched up USR Sniper, the TLP Dragonfly, one of my old Rogue upscales, a Satellite Interceptor upscale, an FSI Dart clone, and my Astron Zinger upscale are all going to at least make the trip. I've yet to see the field in person, but the vids I've seen have me pretty pumped for Saturday.
