I've got an E-powered BT-80 Wizard ready to fly in two weeks if I can make the club launch. I wasn't all that pleased with how it turned out, but I'm going to fly it at least once, then use the come for another upscale.
Well, unless it's a cool flight.

New Design: Narsil Sword
I went to watch one of the Lord of the Rings DVD's the other night and found the little collectors catalog. Never got to watch the movie but I did come up with the 53" Narsil Sword design. The blade gaurd is 3 layers of 1/16" balsa to get the effect I wanted. I also designed both a 18mm and a 24mm but I am not so sure about the availability of the 24mm motors.
Enjoy and Thanks Again, JP James Pierson NAR# 77907 |

New Plan -- 2X Estes SARK
A nice, simple upscale of a model that doesn't get mentioned too often. This version is for 18mm motors, and looks like it would make a really nice flier. It's not a "Schoolyard Sounder", but it does fit into the concept. The altitudes are not excessive, and the size of the model means you can still enjoy seeing it all the way.
All motors reach flight velocity on a standard rod. Length: 25.63" Diameter: 1.04" (ST-10) Fin Span: 8.54" Weight: 1.74 oz A8-3......144'......Dv 18 FPS......Margin 2.02 B4-4......356'......Dv 12 FPS......Margin 1.82 B6-4......362'.......Dv 8 FPS......Margin 1.87 C6-5......792'......Dv 12 FPS......Margin 1.53 Enjoy!

This one looks like a neat design - I build a standard sized clone o fthe SARK last fall, since it was one of my early kits I had in the day . Came out ok, but the decals did not clean up well, so I have another in the que ( decals cleaned up better, and printed ok ) . One I am currently cutting parts for ( and printed decals up for already ) is an upscale of the Sky Raider to PML 2.15" . 29mm mount, motor ejection. I'd be interested to see how that sims out ( I don;t have rocksim, had the trial, but have not gotten around to buying, who knows........ ) ~ AL |

New Plan -- 2X Estes Hawkeye
This was an oddball of a kit for 13mm motors, and didn't really live up to expectations. I hated the fiber fins, which were warped and de-laminating back in the late eighties (early 90s?) when I bought it.
I've doubled the size to ST-10, and it seems to work on the simulator. All motors reach flight velocity on a standard rod. The model has a lot of drag, so it's not going to reach great heights, but it's still respectable. Length: 17.38" Diameter: 1.04" (ST-10) Fin Span: 8.1" Weight: 1.75 oz A8-3......145'......Dv 18 FPS......Margin 1.42 B4-4......360'......Dv 11 FPS......Margin 1.31 B6-4......368'.......Dv 6 FPS......Margin 1.34 C6-5......809'.......Dv 8 FPS......Margin 1.14 I placed the launch lugs inside the nacelles, instead of up against the root edge of the lower fin. Those nacelles are just begging for some additional dressing-up, but that would also introduce additional drag... Enjoy!

Plan Count at BARCLONE
I've just sent the latest batch of RKT files and 3D images up to Scott, and we're now standing at 291. That goal of 300 plan sets before December looks safely reachable at this rate. Thanks to everyone who has submitted their designs to this point, this wasn't possible without you!

New Plan -- Super Sky Raider 29
Quote:
Behold! The Super Sky Raider 29! Using your call-out for PML 2.15 tubing, here's what RockSim says is possible... Length: 54.42" Diameter: 2.3" (PML 2.15) Span: 7.28" Weight: 36.23 oz G35EJ-7.......1371'.......Dv 7 FPS......Margin 5.78 G64-8.........1685'.......Dv 9 FPS......Margin 5.33 H128W-10......2321'.......Dv 7 FPS......Margin 4.94 G75J-10.......2375'.......Dv 7 FPS......Margin 4.85 H165R-10......2450'......Dv 19 FPS......Margin 5.02 H238T-10......2500'......Dv 24 FPS......Margin 5.03 H70W-10.......3260'......Dv 27 FPS......Margin 5.27 Use a tower launch system of 60" to 72" for this model, due to the size and power requirements. No launch lugs are shown on the model. Enjoy!

Cool Thanks for the info / input - will be cutting fins soon ( did not get a chance this weekend ) . surprised the low launch velocities, given the weight of just about 2 1/3 lbs - a 2.2" bird on a H128 or H238 should scream off the pad. might have to rething launch lugs - the only thing with long lengths as you note would be a rail, so railbuttons might be a plus . ( but 'ruin' the upscale look, lol . progress as / when she gets built . ~ AL |

New Design: Plutonic Avenger
Here is a design I call the Plutonic Avenger, since our belove planet Pluto is not longer considered a planet but a Dwarf by the smarty smarty people. Its a mid powered beast the uses D, E and F motors. Jay's Tau nose cone really makes this design look good or is it that this design really makes the Tua nose cone look good!
