After gluing the BT55/BT50 reducer and the PNC into the short BT55 I use THE LAST of my Squadron Green putty to fill the joints. After the green putty dries I sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and then steel wool the assembly.

Just replaced my spent Squadron green with white, thinking it was the same as green only a different color. Wrong.
It's like a thick liquid rather than a doughy putty. But I'm thinking it should fill gaps and voids better. We shall see.

The ends of the tubes are quite nappy so I defuzzilate them with a rolled up piece of 220.

Now for some technique/over-engineering to ensure a clean assembly of the tubes and caps.

Many years ago I bought a large amount of 13mm to 18mm centering rings thinking I could use them as thrust rings (I was wrong.) Now I finally have a use for them.

Using Titebond red I glue each cap to each ring and center each assembly using a length of scrap BT20. Since these caps are predominately aesthetic I'm not going to waste epoxy to mount them in the tubes. Instead I smear a ring of Aleene's Super Tacky inside the rims of each tube end and then insert the cap assemblies. Using Aleene's Supper Tacky will ensure that the BT20's won't pucker as the glue dries.

Nice job with those missile pods. I always liked these types of SciFi kits. Here are a pair of downscales in cardstock 13 and 18 powered I made last year.
