A-7 Corsair II Rocket
A-7 Corsair II Rocket of my own design using the Centuri Fighter fleet as a guide. I also used Estes F-15 Screaming Eagle kit for some parts and fin guide.
I will or won't finish it until I fly it. I hope it flies! |

10 days
10 days and only one response... I guess this model rocket s**ks(can I write s**ks)
I loved the Centuri Fighter Fleet when I was a young rocketeer in the mid 70's. I had a few ideas then to convert many plastic models to rockets but I thought they would be too heavy and fragile. (fragile... thats Italian right!) Please post a comment...but please be kind...I bruise easily. Last edited by dlazarus6660 : 02-26-2010 at 02:40 PM. |

It doesn't suck. I like it. I hope it flies too...up, that is. Keep us posted. Hopefully, it'll be worthy of paint and decals.

Hey, that's REALLY cool! I LOVE the fighter jets... I've been thinking of doing a B-58 Hustler myself, since that's an AWESOME looking jet (shame they didn't last any longer than they did). What nosecone is that?? I could make an A-6 REAL easy with that nosecone... (among other things).
How did you do the canopy?? That looks TOTALLY AWESOME! One tip-- you CAN use a second tube to make the 'intake' and underbody, like the "Snarky" sold by Apogee does... save weight and the work of doing the balsa intake, and save weight as well. Great work and post more pics and info when you fly her! OL JR

Good tip. Would look more to scale that way too since those intakes were more rounded. |

Nice work. Always good to see more stuff that's not 3FNC! You swing-tested it yet?
Another (easier) possibility would be to use the nose cone from the old Estes #1961 Crusader Swing-Wing; Sirius Rocketry/Moldin' Oldies sells 'em; http://www.siriusrocketry.biz/ishop...products_id=148 Later, EV |

Don't take the lack of response as a lack of interest. Speaking for myself, I was waiting to see the results of your flight. AHEM. Still waiting.

Nice Work
Wings, fins, tail are dead-on. Love the cockpit.
Curious if you attempted to manipulate a split or altered round body tube for the scoop. How heavy/sturdy is the wood, will you laminate it? |
