Thank you. I am planning to use an Aerotech E15-4 for its launch. |

I replaced the Estes capsule/escape tower with one from Moldin' Oldies. I've heard that the escape towers are prone to break. The Moldin' Oldies is one solid piece. |

Well, it was bad day and yet a good day for me at NARAM launching my Saturn V. Nice flight until it left the launch rod and went unstable, resulting in a nose landing and crushing the third stage. So, how could this also be a good day? It gave me an excuse to purchase one of the new Saturn V kits from Estes (I got #17). While at the Estes booth I met Mike Dorffler and he autographed both the box of the new kit, as well as, the remaining undamaged portion of my old kit. I plan to rebuild the third stage and have this as a display model. I am hoping to get Vern Estes' signature on this too.
In retrospect, I should have added some weight to the nose since I used an E15 motor. (Though I was sure I had seen Saturn V's fly on E15's in the past with no adjustments.) I meet a person at NARAM with a Saturn V and he has added weight to his for using E15's. It wasn't a good weekend in general for Saturns. Yesterday, someone launched a 2-stage Saturn V that went unstable. There was nice Saturn 1B on a cluster of 1 D and 4 C's that separated at ejection. And then a really nice Apogee Saturn V was launched today that also had a separation. Here some picks of my Saturn from today. |

Greg,
It sure looked good leaving the rod. Sorry to hear about its landing. Great opportunity at NARAM to get signatures and pictures of some real icons in the hobby. Hope you scored a picture or two as well.

a little trick for crisp lines. once you mask her repaint her with white let dry then paint the black. the repainting after the masking seales the masking tape preventing bleeding. the other thing you can do is use frog tape it has a gel on it and it works wonders.

Bob Alway had a great flight with his in Giant Sport Scale on Friday. This was an old model and I was amused that the judge dinged him for yellowed paint. Bill |

Sorry for the stupid question....... (help the new BAR out here)
By "separation at ejection", do you mean the rocket came apart at a place where the builder did not wish it to come apart at? If so, is the cause having too much ejection gases due to clustered motors and/or tightly packed recovery equipment (wadding/parachutes)? |

It means the rocket got separated from the parachute.
